Main Cast
Axinite
Axinite is the center of the story. His workshop is where it all starts, and the main cast are met either though him or Meerkek, his assistant. The most sane one of his troop, Axinite can come off as snappish or abrasive, but usually that's just the shorted sparks of his social battery after an entire day of Meerkek's endless questions, Lucifalon's needless jumpscares, and Circe's flippant use of his things without asking. To say the least, he gets rather worn out.
Axinite draws magic from the crystals that began to grow from his skin, having a source cluster on each of his shoulder blades and another attached to the back of his skull. They give him a sensitivity towards magical objects and an ability to see auras with his third eye. He keeps a simple trinket around his neck to allow telekinesis, making his work a lot easier seeing as he lacks hands. He was not born with his crystal growths but rather got them unexpectedly from a ritual he'd been doing for years. He doesn't like to go into details, as the first few months weren't exactly fun and he still gets occasional headaches from the cluster on his skull. His business is studying magical artifacts and supernatural oddities for his clients. He has two main forms of clientele. Locals bringing in family heirlooms, wondering if they actually hold all the stories and luck supposedly passed down as they'd been told through the verbal history of their families. These jobs are a quick gaze of his third eye and a "No"... most of the time. The other is the oddballs, usually sent to him through his contact Amun Diony. These cases usually require more attention and are also usually sprung upon him without much warning. Regardless of his shaky relationship with Amun, he begrudgingly appreciates the stimulation for his intellect. |
Meerkek
Meerkek is young Stallion with prospects and a high affinity for deciphering spells, more specifically a skill in reverse engineering wards and enchantments. Though lacking a siphon, Meerkek requires a staff, wand, or other conduit to channel magic so he can cast. Kind of a loud mouth and a drama queen, he's the extrovert counterpoint to his grumpy boss. Regardless of their differences, Meerkek will do anything for Axinite and will stick with him through thick and thin. Even if Kek's antics can cause more trouble than Ax would be in without his assistant.
He earned his job almost by some fluke of the universe. The great mysterious Mystic of the Mountain almost seemed to appear out of no where, and when word got out that a job was opening with said mystery stallion, Meerkek sent in his resume much like hundreds of other equines, somehow being the only one called up for an interview. Even if Axinite says he regrets hiring Kek, the words carry about the same weight as chaff. Those two have a closer friendship than either will acknowledge or admit. |
Lucifalon
A former denizen of Arcana, Lucifalon is a Daemon, accidentally summoned by Meerkek when the stallion was messing around with a scroll behind Axinite's back. After discovering Luci couldn't be sent back, they got used to his presence and he fell in as one of the team.
Luci spends his time pestering Axinite when he isn't being a consult on Daemonic runes and magic. |
Circe & Salem
Circe and Salem are partners in crime as the 'witch of the woods' role. Axinite know them as a pain in the neck, coming around his workshop and entering like they own the place, well.. Circe mainly. Salem at least knocks to come in after her partners blatant trespassing. They each specialize in different types of Bond Spells, having turned their bodies into siphons for ancient magic.
Circe is bound to the darker side of the Caldari, giving her access to necromancy and familiar control, but also healing and in some cases, resurrection. She has distinguished abilities even among the other Caldari bound, it's almost a shame she chooses to use her magic for more basic spells to keep Axinite out of trouble. Salem has a bond to the lighter side of the Caldari, a deep connection runs between her and the earth. Flora and Fauna respond to her presence and lend her aid in return for her maintaining her rituals to the god Solaris |
